RPSA Survey Inspection & Reporting Standards
The Residential Property Surveyors Association has launched its' new Survey Inspection and Reporting Standards (SIRS) helping independent surveyors deliver a professional, clear and simple message to home buyers.
Based on a single level of comprehensive property inspection, and supporting a straightforward two-tier reporting structure, the RPSA standards set a benchmark for independent surveyors. Home buyers can be confident that they will get a thorough service, avoiding many of the caveats and exclusions all too commonly seen from surveys in the past.
The message is clear and simple. We do what our client would expect us to do and deliver a professional, clear and simple service aimed at answering questions, not asking them.
These standards give guidance to surveyors for the nature of the inspection and the content of reports.
The principle of the inspection is simple and can be summed up in one line. "As full and thorough a visual and non-invasive inspection as is safe and reasonable to do, noting any limitations."
Reports are based on the complexity of the property. A simple modern house demands a simpler and more concise report. An older more complicated property demands more explanation and description.
Like the service we deliver to our clients, the standards are written to be clear and easy to follow and you can download them below.
