In any industry there are always organisations that stand out from their peers and set the standards that others in their field have to aspire to achieve. First established back in 2001, APA Property Services is an organisation that certainly meets this criteria leading the way when it comes to providing construction, surveying and engineering consultancy services. They have made quite a name for themselves over the years establishing a well deserved reputation as one of the leaders in their field and if the last few years are any barometer of what the future holds then there are many successful chapters yet to be written in the APA Property Services story.

The reputation they have is fully justified and is now beginning to earn them more tangible forms of recognition. In the prestigious Construction and Engineering Awards they were given the impressive accolade of being named Party Wall Act Disputes Advisory Service of the Year. The award was well deserved and has further cemented their reputation as absolute masters of their craft. Following on from that success we are delighted to announce that APA Property Services are the latest recipients of one of our 2025 Awards of Excellence.

With our awards we think it’s important to recognise organisations that are bringing something new and innovative to their marketplace. They don’t necessarily have to be the biggest but they have to be an organisation that is trying to offer something different to what is already out there and above all they must offer a great product or service. We feel that APA Property Services ticks all the boxes and are worthy winners of our award. The awards are clearly no accident and will come as no surprise to anybody that has worked with them. In this edition we will try and give you an insight into the work that they do and the success that they’ve enjoyed.

There are many factors but first and foremost they are good at what they do with the entire team sharing the same steadfast determination to maintain the high standards that have become such a trademark. So who exactly are APA Property Services and what is it that they do? Based in Chelmsford they are a multi disciplinary chartered building, engineering, surveying and dispute resolution practice founded by experienced professional Dr Philip Antino back in 2001.

Dr Philip Antino has more than 40 years of experience as a litigation expert witness and is passionately involved in Alternative Dispute Resolution(ADR). During his distinguished career he’s become an eminently respected and leading expert in Party Wall matters and the first person in the world to have undertaken and received the award of PhD. for his seminal Doctoral Research “Interpreting the Party Wall etc Act 1996 and the implications for building below ground level”.

He has vast experience in litigation and has been regularly appointed as an expert witness at court and tribunal hearings in a broad range of areas including party wall disputes, boundary disputes, landlord and tenant disputes, housing disrepair, surveyors professional negligence claims and building defect disputes. The fact that he is held in such high regard by his clients and his peers in the industry speaks volumes not only about his expertise and the quality of the work that APA Property Services does but also the honest and ethical way in which they operate.

The challenge for Dr Antino and the team at APA Property Services in the future as their reputation continues to grow and the demand for their services increases further will be to maintain the high standards that have helped them enjoy so much success. Since I have determined that the ex-parte Award was valid the court is still able to determine the Award and under the statutory powers to modify the Award if appropriate. I am grateful to Mr Antino suggesting that I now determine the Award issue “I accept that Mr Antino’s hourly rate is not in my judgment unreasonable. It follows that the fee set out in the ex-parte Award had been properly justified and I therefore award Mr Antino’s fees”. (Bansal v Myers Romford County Court).
